Volunteers are vital in making programs at your child’s school a success. With your help, we can provide a great educational experience for the students!

All volunteers must fill out a criminal background check, before participating in any event or volunteer opportunity.

FACULTY ASSISTANCE COMMITTEE
PAL Coordinator or Assistant – Parents Assisting in Learning is a great NISD-wide program that truly benefits the children in our school. PALS are consistent volunteers that are willing to donate at least 1 hour a week on a regular basis. Help is needed in many different areas of interest from tutoring individual students, to assisting the school faculty and staff.
Home Room Parent – A very helpful and appreciated position that is responsible for assisting teacher in organizing two classroom parties, including soliciting help and donations from fellow classroom parents, delegating responsibilities, and being present for both parties. Parent will also assist teacher with special activities as needed.
Classroom Assistant – Assist teacher/s with preparing school work for the week by cutting, xeroxing, binding materials, stapling, filing, etc. This job is extremely helpful to, and appreciated by, the teachers. Your dependability in being prompt and present at your appointed time is vital as the teachers’ tasks are planned with your help in mind.
Classroom Assistant Take-Home / PAL @ Home – Assist teachers/faculty/staff with preparing school work for the week by taking home projects for completion. Tasks would include cutting and pasting materials, making games, and other simple tasks that can be completed without work-room equipment.
Mentor – Help students on an individual basis with tasks such as tutoring in an area of your choice. Let us know what area interests you most!
Counselor Assistant – Assist counselors in preparing work and as needed.
Library Assistant – Assist librarian by shelving books, keeping shelves in order, recovering books, updating magazine shelf, making displays, assisting individuals in book selection.
Newsletter – Assist in preparing and distributing the PTA newsletter.
Fall and Spring Fundraisers – Fundraisers are an important way to improve your child’s school, and volunteers are essential in making them a success! You can help by counting money when orders are due, and to help distribute orders once they have arrived.
Fall Festival – Assist with the set-up and take-down of booth and clean-up of courtyard, as well as working various booths and activities. Shifts are available.
Campbell’s Labels – The Campbell’s Labels for Education coordinator will need assistance in collecting, tallying, and preparing the labels to be turned in. The coordinator may also need help in promoting the program throughout the school and amongst the parents.
STUDENT ACTIVITES COMMITTEE
Field trip chaperone – Assist teachers in supervising children. Detailed
information will be given on a trip-by-trip basis. Parents may chaperone their child’s class. Siblings are unable to attend.
Classroom parties – Take part in the two classroom parties by donating needed materials, and/or your time by helping with set-up, clean-up, and the
functioning of the parties. The home-room parent will contact you with further information.
Bike Rodeo – This is a fun event for students while promoting bicycle safety. Volunteers are needed to check in bicycles, assist the sponsoring police officer, judge riding events, and tally score sheets.
Fun in the Sun – Assist the coaches in soliciting help and donations, help with set-up, working a station, or take-down/clean up. Shifts are available.
Career Day – Career day is a great opportunity for the kids to learn about different careers directly from those who experience it first-hand. Volunteers are needed to present to classes about their careers. You can present to as few as one class, however multiple presentations are greatly appreciated.
STUDENT SERVICES COMMITTEE
Library Book Fair – Help with set-up and break-down of displays, as well as assisting students and parents in selection and purchase of materials.
PTA Winter Shopping Store – Help with set-up and break-down of displays, as well as assisting students and parents in selection and purchase of materials.
Picture Day – Volunteers are needed to assist photographer with such tasks as set-up, clean-up, and as needed. Shifts are available.
Spirit Team – Assist Spirit Team and coordinator during assemblies and ceremonies, and with special activities as needed.
Nurse Assistant – Assist the nurse during the school-wide vision and hearing testing.
PTA Nights – Assist in setting up for PTA meetings; work the “Sign-In” table; pass out flyers and information; and help with any other tasks as needed. You can work one or multiple meetings; shifts are available.
BULLETIN BOARD/MARQUEE COMMITTEE
Kung Fu Facts (Math) Wall – Decorate and update the Math Wall with current information to help motivate Myers students.
Spring Art Show – Help hang students’ artwork around school and help with take-down, clean-up, and as needed during the art show.
School Marquee – Update the Myers school marquee in the front of the school by taking down and putting up important information about upcoming events and dates.
PAL/Volunteer Bulletin Board – Decorate and update the PAL bulletin board with current information on volunteering at Myers.
PTA Bulletin Board – Decorate and update the PTA bulletin board with current information on Myers PTA such as the minutes of each board and general meeting, and other useful information about PTA and upcoming events.
